Performing at YGFC
Heya!
If you're interested in playing at YGFC, we'd love to hear from you.
Please read this primer and fill out the form below, and we'll get back to you asap.
A couple things to bear in mind:
- This is a volunteer organization, and everyone involved in making it happen is doing so in addition to their existing life commitments and working realities. With this in mind, don't panic if you don't hear from us immediately! We endeavour to reply to everyone who reaches out, and encourage you to send a gentle nudge if you haven't heard back from us in 2 weeks.
- We currently only present concerts every-other-month, so even if we're stoked to book you, it might be a while before we can make the show happen.
- Much like you as a performer, we as a curator have a responsibility to do right by our audience and value their trust highly. With this in mind, we do not book acts we have not seen live. If you're coming through Guelph and want to play YGFC next time you're in town, drop us a line and we'll do our best to get to your show! We love music and try to support it every way we can.
-If you're looking for other spaces that book intimate acoustic shows, we suggest you check out The Cornerstone and La Poche, two cozy rooms run by terrific music-loving humans.
How shows tend to work:
- YGFC is essentially a pop-up listening room. Shows are small, and we like them that way.
- One drawback of the smaller scale is that we can only fit so many artists on stage! Trios are typically the max, however we can occasionally make a quartet work depending on instrumentation. Twelve-piece jam-bands, we love you - just not on our stage.
- Performers are playing as part of a co-bill with another act for an audience that is there to listen. It sounds good, and artists can play their quietest, most intimate material.
- We offer a versus deal, with the intention that artists are bringing home as much as possible, with the security of shared risk. The money isn't exactly a king's ransom due to the scale of these concerts, but we do our best.
Thanks a tonne for taking an interest in this scrappy little endeavour. I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
Gently,
Braden Phelan @ YGFC
